School Checkup Time

Although many of our patients choose to have their annual checkup done near their birthday, others like to group their family’s well visits together, often based around the school year.  For many parents, this is a great way to keep up with their children’s visit schedule.

If you are planning to utilize the summer checkup season this way, you might want to review these tips:

  • March-May are actually great months for checkups as they are usually less busy around the office and allow completion of camp forms in a timely fashion.
  • The first 4-6 weeks of summer are also great times for checkups since many people are out of town and scheduling is easier.
  • The end of July and beginning of August are times to avoid for checkups if at all possible.  These times are very busy with last minute “emergency” school checkups.  If you schedule earlier, you’ll find more appointment options that will likely be more convenient.

Remember that all children should have a checkup annually.  Keeping your child up to date on his checkup helps us monitor his growth and health, keeps him up to date on immunizations, and allows us to fill out any forms for sports or camp that you may need during the following year.
